Is anyone watching this?
I had high hopes because I really like Kim cattrell but the main character. Marco is too much for me.... He's selfish and naive and whines about everything. I can't get past episode 4 so I have to bow out

When will whoever green lights projects realize that girls and women don’t appreciate a storyline that centers young boys as makeup and beauty experts?

Beyond the main character, the majority of the staff at the makeup/beauty company are gay men or queer women.

I’m all for lgbtq representation in tv. I’m not all for centering men as makeup experts.

I watched two episodes and thought the main character was unlikable. He makes gay men seem shallow and immature as well as hyper sexual.

I disagree with the PP that of course a guy can be the makeup expert. That said I just can’t get into the show.

Of course one guy can be a makeup expert, but building a premise around him as the savior surrounded by a heavily male team of makeup experts seems like an odd choice for a show.

Yeah this show really mixed the mark. The only character I actually liked was Kim cattrall's character. But the main character. Marco was annoying beyond belief and made the dumbest choices over and over again. There is no way he would still be in that job. And him freaking out over his hookup. Also hooking up with other people is when I had to stop.....

I loved this show so much. The dialog is really brilliant but you have to pay close attention. And Kim Cattrall is amazing. Marco us exactly what a 20-something is supposed to be IMO….

A 20 something is supposed to be stupid. Flaky, self-centered, entitled and whiny? I don't think so. Those characters were all so poorly written and I'm sorry there was nothing brilliant about that dialogue. Can you please give an example of it's brilliance?

I'm gay and hate to break it to you, many 20 something year olds behave in the same way as the main character. The character is very annoying but I've seen so many guys like him when they're new to the scene and trying to navigate life. The mom is great though. It's okay for background while doing things around the house but definitely not going to be winning any awards. It sort of reminds me of Ugly Betty.

I love it!

It's doing really well, too, so I'd watch a bit more and you might like it.

That is the point. It's a coming of age comedy. People his age are selfish and naive..

Exactly. I think his character is growing.

Sounds like you're not the target audience. I say this because it's doing really well.

Well, most viewers are enjoying it. Here is what Variety had to say: “Glamorous” nails the brief: a winning and earnest coming-of-age story furnished with silly gags that speak to its specific audience, like a consultant named Mykynnleigh (Nicole Power) whose idea of theater is Stomp. The glossy office farce has endured for good reason, putting a relatable quest for meaningful work in an escapist package. “Glamorous” tweaks the format to help it endure, preserving its joys for Gen Z’s viewing pleasure." - Variety https://variety.com/2023/tv/tv-reviews/glamorous-review-kim-cattrall-netflix-1235651292/

It's ok but I'll keep watching for Kim C. Love her.

I haven't watched this show yet, but to the PP who thinks men can't be beauty experts--I'm a beauty writer for magazines and I would say most of the experts I regularly turn to for quotes in articles are men. There are, obviously, plenty of female hair and makeup artists, but men make up a fair amount of the industry.
