They’re wildfires under control or at least issue some sort of apology for how long this is going to continue.
We’ve been student and understanding, but it getting ridiculous. |
Yeah...it is such an easily solvable situation that the US easily manages. |
Didn’t say it was easily solvable. They’re definitely not doing everything possible to combat the situation though. They’re letting many of the wildfires just burn aka ‘monitoring’.
Okay, that’s fine but it affecting hundreds of thousands of your neighbors. If I’ve got somehow in going on that’s negatively affecting my neighbors, I do the neighborly thing and apologize. We’re going on a month of this and it’s going to continue for 4 more months or more! Sitting quiet and acting like it’s NBD is a jerk move. |
Right wingers gonna right wing and the right wingers in Canadian provinces are as tied to vice signaling about global warming as the American ones are. |
Letting it burn is all that is logistically possible in some of these places.
You really should read a bit about it, OP. Your “customer is always right” schtick is not going to get any of us far vis a vis Canadian wildfire. |
Lmaooooooooooo I’m in California where it’s wildfires all the time, please let me know when you find the wildfire cure for Canada, so you can pass it along. |
We continue to suffer from failed suppression strategies of the 1900s. https://www.motherjones.com/environment/2019/11/californias-wildfire-controlled-prescribed-burns-native-americans/ |
They are letting some of them burn because they don't have enough people to fight them all. What are they supposed to apologize for, climate change making fires more frequent and intense? Dry winters and hot summers? Having large tracts of forest? Not having unlimited resources to fight wildfires? They are certainly not acting like tis NBD. They have requested assistance to fight the fires and I guarantee they are taking this seriously. |
"Sorry 20 million+ acres of our country is on fire." |
They don't have a management program that does much for prevention. Only about 10,000 acres get prescribed burns per year. Like a lot of countries, they need to re-prioritize. Like a lot of countries, they are beholden to their fossil fuel industries. It's a piss in the wind now, but at least 10+ countries are sending personnel and equipment to assist. |
It’s supposed last into October |
Burn now or burn later. They don’t have the resources or access to fight them all. With a warming climate, trees are dying. Hopefully succession plants will be more heat tolerant/fire resistant. |
Ah yes, an apology from Canada would make me breathe much better in DC. ![]() |
How about we apologize to them for not doing enough about climate change? |
I agree OP and its annoying that there is little info even coming out of Canada about this issue. |
