Dewey beach

What’s are good places to go in Dewey beach? I noticed there only one good bar where you can’t even move and everything else it’s pretty much dead.. do we have to go elsewhere for the boardwalk?

Dewey is where singles go. It’s not a family-oriented place. It’s bars and drunks.

There is no boardwalk.

You can drive less than 5 mins to Rehoboth for the boardwalk.

People always say that but our family has been staying in Dewey for years and we don’t experience this at all.

Everywhere else is dead?
Dewey is known for being dog friendly and a party town.
What activities are you looking for specifically? Ages of kids?

Interesting. Do you not walk around the main strip in the evening?

It’s only on the weekends. Weekdays are quiet. I lived and worked there for a few summers. Also go with my family.

You mean Chicken Ed's. Chicken, baked potato, corn, rolls - one of the best deals in Dewey.

If you haven’t been to Dewey since college, it’s changing. Yes, late night on route one is still a wild time (especially on holiday weekends like this) but so many families stay here these days. Rental houses are expensive and there aren’t as many group party houses as there were even two years ago. You can easily walk or bike to Rehoboth and honestly, the beach in Dewey is the best one in DE (besides drive ons). No boardwalk or bathrooms (and scant parking) means no day trippers. We love it here!

Yes, I’m sure that’s it’s it. We usually go Sun-Wed the last week before school starts.

Was thinking about Labor Day weekend this year because of a work conflict. Will it be a madhouse?

Did you do any research before going? Dewey doesn’t have a boardwalk. Go into Rehoboth for a traditional boardwalk. As for bars, yes, on the weekend the bars are packed. But there are also a lot of restaurants. While I used to go to party there, I’d be willing to take my kids there during the week as it’s a nice beach.

I saw two men struggling to carry their drunk friend out of a bar and along coastal highway at 4pm today in Dewey. Plus tons of groups of men drinking on balconies and hooting and hollering at women walking by. It’s not a family environment.

Dewey Hyatt seemed to have some popularity with families fwiw.
