I googled but couldn't see where Wes Brown signed anything to prevent this.
Thanks if anyone knows. |
You’re mixing up your black people. |
| Looks like it per evening local news. HOw much is it? |
Nevermind. googles says 42.7 cents to 47 cents per gal. F- |
Yes. The gas tax is pegged to inflation, as it should be. |
inflation can go down, will the tax go down too? i think not. |
That's not how economics works. If inflation is lower, that just means prices are increasing at a slower rate. Inflation can't "go down," as that would be deflation in which case we'd be in real trouble. |
And you do realize that increased gas prices drives price inflation in other products. But ok, genius. |
You know what would increase prices a lot? If our infrastructure were not maintained and fell apart. Which is what happens if you don't fund it. And guess what funds infrastructure? Think real hard. |
I'm not sure what your point is? Please explain. Yes, the CPI includes gas prices. Yes, the gas prices in the CPI include gas taxes. No, the gas taxes in the gas prices in the CPI do not make a meaningful difference. The increase today is going from 42.7 cents per gallon to 47 cents per gallon. So 4.3 cents per gallon. If you had driven all the way to Damascus (or if you were already in Damascus) yesterday, you could have bought gas for about $3.20 per gallon. Today, that would be $3.24 per gallon. My car has a twelve-gallon gas tank, so if it were completely on E when I filled it up, it would be $38.88 vs. $38.40. Also, you know those roads you drive on? And you know how driving on roads damages the roads - the heavier the vehicle, the more the damage? Gas taxes help to pay for the maintenance of those roads. |
The state’s income tax brackets should be pegged to inflation too but they’re not. |
Definitely a TESLA driver |
For some families every penny counts. Yeah I know it’s hard for you to believe and it’s not YOUR problem. Self-centered frick. |
Families for whom every penny counts, to that extent, are most likely to not have a car at all. They are most likely to depend on transit. Guess what helps to fund transit? Yes, the gas tax. |
