| Recommendations for best online source for ordering lobster - direct from Maine or is there a great local place to buy from? Thanks |
| Bumping because I'd love some opinions as well. |
| Lobster Maine-ia market in Chantilly is good. |
| I don't know if they are from Maine (likely not, maybe Canada), but we get our lobsters at the H Mart and they have always been delicious, plus you can't beat their pricing. |
| Salt River Lobster is the best option I have found if you are in MoCo and willing to deal with their pickup. |

Doesn’t matter where you get them, most important is how long they’ve been out of the water.
If you buy them from a supermarket tank look at the antennae, they should be nearly as long as the lobster and taper down to a point, if they’re short the lobster has been in a pound for months and the other lobsters have been eating the antenna’s. A lobster that has been pounded for months hasn’t eaten for months and will not have that amazing sweet taste. |
Ooooo this is some of the best advice I've gotten on DCUM. I had to ask a fish monger about buying already cooked lobster at a supermarket. The texture and flavor were so oft.. He explained to me that some places take the lobsters that die in the tank and cook them and sell the meat. Yuck. |
| I know a DC bigwig that sends his plane up to fetch fresh lobsters. He should accept orders. |
| I grew up in Maine and we find Luke's Lobster to have very good lobster. They ship direct from Maine when you order and have a shop in Bethesda. |

We ordered live Maine lobster from ShopLobster, and I highly recommend giving them a try if you want to buy Maine lobster online!
