Snacks for swim meet

What are your swimmer’s favorite snacks if they’re competing in multiple heats?
Anonymous
Usually donuts, muffins, or whatever else sugary they have at the snack bar. (Whatever we pack goes uneaten.)

Granola bars, protein shake, snack bar

Grapes have been the favorite for both of my swimmers for years

Individual packs of seaweed, no idea why, but a friend had some last year at a meet and now it’s a thing.
Banana, chips, Rice Krispie treats.
I do let my kid buy one thing from concessions of her choice.

My kids love watermelon at swim meets (and so do their friends, so I pack extra). I make muffins at home and bring them. We have a batch of zucchini chocolate chip in the freezer and I'll throw a couple into the bag before we leave and it's thawed out by the meet. Sometimes they get junk from the snack bar.

Candy and sunny d. Even multiple heats is probably less than 200 meters total, so you really don’t have to worry about gyclogen stores; it’s just what ever makes them happy.

Ha! This made me laugh. 100 percent true. The best snack I can pack is $$ for the concession stand.

None of this is true. No swim team kid is eating mom’s janky defrosted zucchini muffins and hot watermelon

Agree w PP about seaweed. I think it’s gross but the kids are into it.

My kid eats from the snack bar. Watermelon and ring pops

Huma gel. And candy. Nothing fibrous, something with carbs.

Weird reaction, but ok. First of all, I do bring a cooler and ice packs, so the watermelon is not hot. And what can I say, kids ask mine for watermelon--I've been there when they do so I pack extra. And they keep asking. Why is this so weird to you?

And yes my kids eat my muffins and yes I also said they get food from the snack bar so I'm not some weird health food nut. I just don't like paying $$$$$ for junk food all the time during the swim season.

For summer swim? You kid isn't fueling to do an open water 10k, they are swimming across a 25m pool and back twice. If they are in a relay, add in an extra 25m. You don't need to choke down a gel for 125m of swimming spaced over a couple of hours.

Kid swims 6 days a week multiple times a day. The meet is the least of their activity. They like the gel. And the candy. They prefer not to eat much before meets. I don’t know man, it’s what they do.

My 15 year old in MCSL swims IM, 100 free, 100 back, 50 fly in a meet. They're not all 8 and under.
