Staging costs

How much does professional staging cost? In Bethesda

We're in Southern MD, but just paid $1800 for the living room, master bedroom and basement. They also did a lot of little things around the house. Worth it because we got over ask for our house.

Your agent should provide this for you.

That is a vague question. Are you looking for an hourly consultation with a stager to help you work with your things? Or are you looking to furnish an empty condo? Or something larger like a 4500 square foot home? Are you hiring a budget staging company for a lower priced listing or a luxury staging company for something high-end?

My in laws just sold their house and the realtor had his own in house stager and movers/ painters. They don’t live in the DMV. They didn’t get a storage unit and just put all the extra furniture in the garage. They picked this realtor because he had relationships already and he paid for the work. Honestly with the price of houses realtors get paid way too much for the work they do so having stagers on call a realtor pays for is worth it. Look at different realtors who cover stager costs.

My in laws interviewed other realtors who had stagers but the cost would have been covered by my in laws. Since their house was $$$ they knew they didn’t want to cover those fees since the realtor would be making bank for minimal work. They had 5 offers on the first day. I think staging helped

in DC, paid $3000 upfront for up to three months staging for a 1500sf condo (a one month contract was $2000), after not getting any offers empty. Closed with a cash offer over ask in 30 days with the staging.

If you're using a full-priced agent, you should not be paying additional for staging.

My realtor paid for it.

OP here - I’m curious for a 2000 SF house, currently empty. Good to know about realtor paying for it. I was thinking more luxury staging given its location but guess these are questions I’ll ask the realtor!

A 2000 SF house in Bethesda does not need "luxury staging"; the ordinary staging is fine. If the agent is charging 5% commission and doesn't pay for staging, move on to a different agent. You can ask for samples of past listings by the agent to make sure you're comfortable with how the house will look when it's staged.

I'd rather see it empty but for $2K you can buy a lot of stuff.

We sold in 2022. 3500 sf townhouse in Bethesda. House was vacant. Staging fee was $3,100. Monthly furniture rental was $2,700. This was staging for the entire house and outdoor patio area. House sold in a week.

This is who our realtor uses. https://stagedinterior.com/ We've sold 2 houses with them and used this company both times.

Most agents don't pay for staging and nor should they if your furniture is crap.

NP -- I am confused. Did you pay 5800 or just the 3100?
