My BMI is 37 and I asked my doctor for Mounjaro over Wegovy or Ozempic as I read that it is slightly more effective with milder symptoms. Doctor called it in last week and it still hasn't been filled by CVS in MoCo. I'm wondering if I'll regret going with Mounjaro if there are shortages and it will be stressful to fill the script each month. On the FDA website only higher doses have shortages listed. Wondering what is going on locally and if certain pharmacies have more reliable access. |
Do you have diabetes? If not, then no this is not for you. Try Wegovy. |
There are shortages with both medications, especially if you don’t have a type 2 diagnosis. Pharmacists are prioritizing their diabetes patients, so you won’t have an easy time finding Mounjaro. I’m type 2 and can’t find Mounjaro, so I’m on ozempic, which is easy to find - for me. |
Call around, the doses under 10 mg are available. |
15mg unavailable unit the end of July. PP correct about lower doses available under 10mg. The $25 coupon expires on the 30th so you may be able to find some after that. Everyone is trying to get their $25 script filled by the before it expires. |
There are shortages on all doses according to my CVS.
I just moved up to 5mg and I have been waiting for 2 weeks now. My doctor gave me a free sample 2.5 last week but she's now out of freebies so this is my first week without any meds. CVS told me it would be the week of July 10 before they received any 5mg doses. A friend on 15mg can't get any until the end of July/the beginning of August! |
Mounjaro will likely be approved for weight loss before the end of the year. But if Wegovy is more available, that's a valid reason to ask for a different prescription. |
no issues at my local walgreens. it is sometimes backordered/delayed but ive never missed a dose in 8 months due to supply |
I just had my 7.5 renewed at a Walmart pharmacy. |
