We have been in a nanny share for the past 1.5 years. DS will be starting daycare - but the nanny will be continuing with the other family and a new family is starting. Do you usually give a gift of some sort on the last day? If so - what/how much? |
I would give a small token gift (ornament with a picture of your child? "World's best nanny" refrigerator magnet) and two weeks pay as a parting bonus. |
I would give cash...an extra pay check. No magnet.. |
Money. As much as you feel is warranted. I'd say 2 weeks pay feels right for the amount of time you've been in the share. |
Money and a small photobook of your kid. As a former nanny, I also really appreciate being added to the annual Christmas card list. It's nice getting little updates from all the kids I cared for. |
former nanny here and I agree with this. |
No one wants an ornament of your kid lol and no one wants that magnet. A small photo book of the kid makes sense, along with the $, of course. |
+1 |
Agree - we did a Shutterfly book and $$ |
Absolutely.
Two weeks pay (of what you usually pay, so it'll feel like 1 weeks pay for her) plus a little token. If she celebrates Christmas, a like a Christmas ornament frame with a picture of the kids (or her and the kids! Even better!) |
Agree. Afterall, if a magnet gets in water.... you know what happens! |
Cash is king |
I think a photobook is a little much. Maybe one nice 4x6 or 5x7 photo in a classic style frame of your child and the nanny. Plus cash. |
Just to clarify, I don't mean to much money. I mean what is the nanny going to do with a photobook just of your kid? |
Not to mention that making one is time intensive. I barely find the time to make one for myself. |
