My DS is currently signed up for geometry (starting tomorrow) at his high school- Churchill.
Has anyone had a child take it? After 4 hours of class each day, how much homework is there? Are there a lot of tests? He feels behind because COVID was hard for him and we had him retake Algebra. He wants to catch back up, but I don't know if it is worth it. Thank you for any insight. |
| Your lucky Churchill offers in person. My child is taking geometry this summer for grade improvement but Wootton didn’t offer in person so he’s doing central summer school. I’m questioning how they can possibly cover an entire semester in just 9 sessions over 3 weeks? Even though the material should be familiar, we expect it to be a struggle with so little instruction. I assume Churchill will provide many more hours of direct instruction than central summer school but I’d still expect it to be challenging if taking it for the 1st time. |
| It's a slog to get it all in via summer school. How much work outside class depends on the kid, but be prepared for skills practice to master the material in a hurry. It's really hard to catch up again at the summer school pace. |
| If he’s struggling in Matthew it will be very hard as it’s very fast aced and doesn’t cover everything. I’d get him a tutor if you cannot help daily. |
