Lexus digital key

Does anyone have this feature and can you speak to how it works? We have one electric vehicle and the app controls unlocking, temperature, the windows, etc. We also have an app for another vehicle and it’s basically garbage and won’t even update location. Where does the Lexus app fall within that spectrum? Is it worth adding on that feature? FWIW, I use the app for our electric vehicle a tom.

I have a Lexus and even though I was frustrated to learn it was a subscription service after three years, I pay for this one Lexus service.

-app start (through the app and Alexa)
-notifications if the doors are unlocked and ability to lock
-good location updates

What I don’t like:
-can’t control climate from the app
-can’t close windows or hatch from the app so it will alert you if you leave them open but won’t allow you to close them remotely

Still as I park outside the remote start is invaluable to me.

I hate commoditization of vehicles though. It really makes me mad that I need to pay for this service!

Thanks! It sounds like it operates a lot like our non-ev. Won’t turn it down, but it doesn’t need to be in my must-have list.

To be fair, I don’t think any care app will ever allow windows or hatches to be closed with the app due to the risk of a kid getting entrapped. Not being able to control the climate is annoying though.

I have an ev with an app with climate, unlock, remote start, etc. But I believe that if it’s out of wifi or cell coverage, you are out of luck. So don’t park it in an underground garage if you are depending on the app. I sometimes drive the car without a key, and I’m always checking that it has a cell signal before I turn it off.

My EV does allow me to open/close windows remotely, honk, turn on exterior cameras and open the garage door.

I have it for my 2020 RX450H. Works as promised, but I think the subscription cost (which they start charging after 3 years) should be lower because it’s not like they are adding features or improving the app over time.
