I am wanting to make my house more relaxing for guests.
But also for myself!! I want everybody to feel at home and for myself to be able to relax and not think of chores for even 2 days at a time. (I love chores too much and do them every day.) How do I get that “Airbnb” we-are-only-here-to-sit-back-and-party-vibe in our house? And you know how you stop have to do the dishes, but it’s like.. easier to do in your rental? We’ve had week-long beach stays where everybody does a vacuum and spruce up halfway through the week. I keep seeing chores around the house that don’t contribute to this feeling. Like pressure washing the sidewalk lol. I mean.. what does set someone up for relaxing better for guests / your own self and family? |

1) Have less stuff, especially clutter (blankets, the baskets the blankets go in, etc). On vacation, the places are more sparsely furnished and you bring fewer possessions - it actually makes it more fun.
2) Have a big "backstock" of party materials like drinks & snacks. You can always order takeout (and do at the beach)- having enough wine & cheese for an impromptu party at all times brings me a lot of joy and makes it easier to host; 3) Stop doing chores all the time. We do chores on Sunday afternoons, but otherwise hold off |
