My husband is a new runner - he is struggling to use his Applewatch with Spotify and earbuds.
He is not using AirPods as they don’t stay in well during exercise. So he’s using something else - maybe Bose earphones. But his music cuts in and out. I use Beats and take my phone w me on runs. But hubby wants to leave his phone at home since he’s wearing an Applewatch What do others do? Thanks! |
Can't he download the music to the watch? I also use Beats and take my phone, but he needs to figure out the earphones first. |
Oh yes his Spotify playlist is downloaded.
Seems like the problem is once he steps out the door to run, the music cuts in and out. He read something online that suggested he hold his wrist/phone closer to the earbuds when this happens. Whaaat? So I figured I’d check here. I always hear that runners prefer Garmin over Applewatch |
Maybe google with a filter for /running Reddit? I prefer my garmin music. It’s always worked well for me. I also use the beats headphones and the on earphone controls work with the watch. Used it this morning in fact! I can listen to music on the watch and follow a structured workout at the same time. |
I have a Garmin and I'm a runner, but a cheaper one so I still bring my phone with me. It sounds like he has an issue with the bluetooth connecting to the headphones. |
I'm another runner who prefers Garmin over AppleWatch, but that's solely because the Garmin is designed for outstanding run-tracking. With AppleWatch, it's a nice perk. See if one of the running subReddits has good information - lots of helpful folks there. |
I run with my apple watch, but bring my phone along in a thigh pocket of my tights. I use air pod pros which stay in perfectly. I use Spotify. I don’t think you can leave phone at home to do this.
I use Strava to record mileage, speed, etc. |
I run with an Apple Watch and Shokz Bluetooth headphones. No such problems. I do carry my phone, and play my audiobook from my phone while running Strava on my watch. Maybe he could try that?
Yes, serious runners prefer a Garmin, but a new runner with an Apple Watch definitely doesn’t need to buy one. I can’t justify one for myself when the Apple Watch does 90% and I already have it. |
He needs to turn the Wi-Fi off on his watch. That should fix it.
BTDT. |
I run with an Applewatch. I got the one that has cell service so that I can stream music from Spotify while running. Is the issue that he needs to download the music?
I will say, I had a few runs where the music didn't work, but then I think the app updated and it works pretty reliably now (as long as I start the music after I've walked out of the range of our house's wifi so it doesn't have to switch). |
buds don't stay in my ear when i run- I have treblab headphones and they are great
|
I download the music to my watch on Spotify. But it has a tendency to cut out after two or three songs. I just went back to bringing my phone on runs. |
Does he have the low-speed watch plan? I have t/mobile and there were 2 plan options. |
