Kristof on Gaza

Check out Nicolas Kristof's op-ed column in today's NY Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/04/opinion/04kristof.html). It gives what I believe is a non-ideological picture. Kristof has a history of traveling wherever people are oppressed and seeking ways to help. I can't see a hint of anti-Israel sentiment in this plea for a change in Israel's blockade policy.

Very interesting piece! I thought I would hear the same old arguments hashed over again. This was something new for me. Thanks!

Apparently Israel is changing its blockade policy. Now what will the Palestinians do to show good faith?

Next time read the Kristoff article before posting - it's about attempts to start a non-violent Palestinian movement. Then you won't look so silly and uncompromising, at the same time.

The thing about Kristoff is that he looks at people more than politics. He sees families on both sides, not governments. From that viewpoint it's obvious that peace is necessary and it therefore has to be made to happen.

Unfortunately, too many Israelis and Palestinians see much more of the people on the other side who kill, and peace looks impossible. And too many of us look at one side or the other in that way because, unfortunately, both sides take actions that make it very easy to see them that way.

Uh, they stopped firing them when the cease fire was announced over a year ago. Only a handful of rockets, all by fringe groups, have gone off.
