Title says it all, I think.
We would love to go on a day hike within an hour drive of DC to follow it up with a great (although not too formal as we'll be in hiking clothes) meal. Any recommendations? TIA! |

We really enjoy going to Catoctin State Park and then this family owned restaurant afterwards.

| The Billy Goat Trail and Old Angler Inn. |
Restaurant is mediocre and the parking near the trail can get pretty full. But at least it's closeby. I'd say go up to Seneca Creek State Park near Germantown, but you'd need to bring a picnic lunch then. |

Looks perfect! Thank you! |
Went online to type this (though if you are not that fit and/ or it is hot, don’t do the whole towpath, just walk on the C& O canal. That has nice views and less scrambling over boulders). You can walk right to the restaurant! |
| Sugar Loaf Mountain, Comus Inn |

Greenbelt Park and then Franklin's or 2Fifty BBQ. Could also do Lake Artemesia, which is more of a walk than a hike but very pleasant!
Sligo Creek Trail and La Casita or Zinnia Rock Creek Park/Meadowbrook and Parkway Deli or Daily Dish You could do Soapstone Valley into Rock Creek Park, Melvin Hazen back out, and then eat at Sababa or somewhere nearby. One I haven't tried is Little Falls and Gregorio's Trattoria but it looks like it would work well. |
Great suggestions! |
| Harpers Ferry has options |
| Hike the AT in Harper’s Ferry, then eat at the Rabbit Hole |
| Depends on where in DMV you are if you can get there in an hour, but we like sections of the Appalachian Trail near Purcerville and then there are at least a few good restaurants in town, including Magnolia's. |
| Great Fallson VA side, then outside at Jacques Brasserie |
| Probably closer to 1.5 hours from DC/NOVA but hike Mary's Rock and then head to Washington, VA and eat at Patty O's - check out the Inn at Little Washington and walk the grounds if you have not been there. Good day trip but doesn't take all day but you need to head out on the early side. |
