I'm purchasing subscription or season tickets to the ballet and opera to force myself back into enjoying live entertainment like I did before COVID. I haven't been to a live theatre performance since I saw a relative perform in a musical out of town.
Anyone else? I haven't been to a movie theatre since before COVID. There's no movie that I want to see so badly that I want to sit a seat for two hours in a theatre where I can't control the air conditioning or comfort. I attended a large festival out of town recently with live music, the first time I've traveled by plane since before COVID. |

Just our experience: We've always gone to a lot of plays pre-pandemic and have been going back to live theater for a long time now, since late 2021. Starting to increase how frequently we go, too. Even now, we mask, and I find that quite a lot of people attending plays do continue to mask inside theater auditoriums in this area, for professional theater. I don't want to sit for 2-3+ hours with strangers next to, in front of and behind me, unmasked, even now, even vaccinated and boosted; I have a family member who needs to stay uninfected and I don't want to bring the virus home even if I wouldn't get very ill from it myself. And in theaters around here, it's not a big deal to mask or not mask; it's one of the few places left, I think, where there's no sense of standing out, or getting side eye from non-maskers, for those of us masking. Bonus: Haven't had a cold since early 2020.... |
