I know high school athletes need a certain GPA or higher to play in the school's sports. Can coaches see the players exact grades or GPA? Or does it just show as eligible or non-eligible?

Yes they can see. As far as I can tell they don’t care. Our coaches let the kids play no matter what horrible grades or disciplinary issues they have. No standards anymore. |
OP here. I was curious. Sometimes I see coaches post on social media about their teams average GPA. I was just wondering if the coach knows because he can see all players GPA on his own, or if he asked each player to self report their GPA, or? I don't think my kid's coaches have ever done that (post the average GPA on social media) so I was just curious about it. |

It’s the responsibility of the athletic director to verify the students eligibility. Virginia public schools probably don’t even pay the coaches $5000 per season and many don’t even work at the schools other than to coach. They are just there to coach and not do the administrative work. |
