Can high school sport coaches see a player's grades? Or just eligible/non eligible?

I know high school athletes need a certain GPA or higher to play in the school's sports. Can coaches see the players exact grades or GPA? Or does it just show as eligible or non-eligible?

At our school, they can see it all.

Yes.

Why does it matter?

Yes they can see. As far as I can tell they don’t care. Our coaches let the kids play no matter what horrible grades or disciplinary issues they have. No standards anymore.

OP here.
I was curious.

Sometimes I see coaches post on social media about their teams average GPA. I was just wondering if the coach knows because he can see all players GPA on his own, or if he asked each player to self report their GPA, or?

I don't think my kid's coaches have ever done that (post the average GPA on social media) so I was just curious about it.

My students’ coaches check their grades regularly.

It’s the responsibility of the athletic director to verify the students eligibility. Virginia public schools probably don’t even pay the coaches $5000 per season and many don’t even work at the schools other than to coach. They are just there to coach and not do the administrative work.
