Need a rain jacket! Recommend one you love.

I have a seven year old Patagonia city coat that is losing its waterproof lining around the neck and shoulders, but they don't appear to make it anymore! I love it so much and have not had luck finding one that has the things I want - long length (almost knee length) with a two way zipper, hood with good sized brim to shield your face, trim/flattering cut and decent pockets. I don't like belted trench coats or jackets.

Also, has anyone taken things to Patagonia to be recycled? This rain jacket is in excellent shape, besides loosing its waterproof-ness, so I don't want to toss it.

I still enjoy my Marmot anorak.

You can apply stuff to it to make it waterproof again.

The problem is, the waterproof lining is flaking off. I have that waterproofing wash for my ski shell, but it won’t address the flaking lining in my rain jacket :/

I like my North Face one for dog walking. I stay bone dry. Not sure they come in the longer length though? I have a Columbia one I like too, again not sure on length though.

I have one from Helly Hansen that fits this description. I don't remember which it is, but they have a few: https://www.hellyhansen.com/en_us/women/jackets/rain-jackets?p=2

I have a previous iteration of this coat form North Face. I like that it's longer length and keeps more of my body dry, but it's really lightweight which makes it perfect for DC -- I can wear it comfortably in a rainstorm in July, but it also works in spring and summer with a warmer layer underneath.

It does not have a two way zipper, though -- that's the one requirement you listed this doesn't meet. I have not found it to be an issue. With rain coats, generally I want it zipped all the way to keep moisture out.

I personally like the flap pockets because they are deep and the flap keeps moisture out -- I can stick a flyer from school or my wallet in there and it will stay completely dry.

I have an earlier iteration of this jacket from JCrew: https://www.jcrew.com/p/womens/categories/clothing/coats-and-jackets/rain-jacket/new-perfect-lightweight-jacket/BP290?display=standard&fit=Classic&color_name=black&colorProductCode=BP290

I really like it. Very functional, comfortable over layers, more versatile than a “sporty” raincoat. Mine is a few years old, but this looks similar enough that I think it’s worth a try.

Thanks for the recommendations! The longer HH one looks like it might work. Looking for longer length to keep more of my legs dry, which is why I need the 2 way zipper for ease of walking

The NF one looks good too! The JCrew one is shorter than I’d like. But the HH and NF ones are more of what I’m looking for, thanks!!
