going babysitter rate

Anonymous
DD is going to babysit three children under the age of 6 (but no babies) next week in NW DC. Can you advise going rate? No driving she will entertain them at their home. This is a one off type gig and not a regular schedule

Thanks

3 kids should be $30. I am a nanny who gets $30 for one baby.

I mean, if she is a college kids then $25 is probably fine.

My daughter is 15 YO in NW DC.
She sits for 2 kids ages 7 and 9.
Gets $20 / hour.

Three kids under 6 is a lot! If she’s just a “mothers helper” (ie a parent is there and she’s not responsible for anything other than keeping them alive) maybe $15/hr. If she’s legit babysitting them, I’d say $25/hr minimum.

If she’s a teenager then $10 for one kid is standard in this area. I could see $15 for 3 kids but $20+ is wishful thinking.

How old is your kid?
Are the parents both gone?
Has she babysat before and how much does she normally charge?

$30, $25 minimum. Three little kids is really tough.

Not for a 15yo. That’s why we need the age.

I have 2 kids under 5 — daycare teacher who also babysits for us charges $30/hour and I think it’s worth it give that it’s two kids and I trust her absolutely.

All the posters throwing out costs for their nanny and daycare teacher are failing at reading comprehension. Of course professionals have a higher hourly rate.

It’s sounds like - though I could be wrong - your DD is in high school or maybe early college. Though if she’s that old she should have a pre established rate.

$20-22 and hour is appropriate here. We pay that and round up to the next hour for our three ages 3-7 with a 17 year old sitter.
