Please help me find

I can't recall the title but it was a collection of short stories/ essays written by this relatively unknown author, a woman (American, Hispanic, or Mexican American? I forgot) who is probably already deceased but I remember I read her biography and she had 4 kids and cleaned hotels for a living as a single mother (meaning she did not come from money nor was she writing professionally for a living). It was a highly rated book and that's how I had come to know it but I think this book was a one hit wonder so unlikely that she had any other books to her name. I'm searching on Google books but cannot find it..
Anyone who has an idea what I'm talking about??

Try Googling a combination of those words. I was recently trying to remember the title and author of The Good House by Ann Leary because I remembered reading it but couldn't remember the title or author. I Googled Maine realtor alcoholic and the book was the first result.
