I am 56 and still have fairly regular periods. It’s fluctuated here and there. In the last three or so years, the periods have been insanely heavy. I thought the end was near when 90 days went by without a period. But a week ago the period came back and lasted seven days. I feel like I might set a record ![]() |
Agree. That sucks. |
7 days is a short period for me. When I was a teen, my periods lasted two weeks, and I became anemic. My mother is the same and needed blood transfusions.
Anyhow. Sorry you're dealing with this, OP. It's frequent to experience this as a last gasp before menopause, but mention it all the same to your Gyn. |
+1 My really heavy perimenopausal periods turned out to be fibroids. |
I turn 55 in a week and just got a “surprise” after a year. Will see doctor, but my clock is now reset. I’m hoping it’s just a Covid aftereffect. I seriously had been planning to donate all my supplies this weekend. |
Yep, that's how it works. All the craziness of menopause, things calm down, months of no period, and then SURPRISE! |
