My personal best output is 50 points higher than what I routinely get now. I haven't gotten within 30 points of my best in a year! I'm late 40s, never had covid (that I know of) and am not doing much different...except that I lift weights a lot more and don't ride quite as often. |
You mean total output? Over what duration? Bike fitness goes to and goes down. If you aren’t on the bike as much, it’s going to go down. |
I ride less and use my treadmill more, and my scores have declined also. |
It's the algorithm. Each time Peloton does an update something changes with the output scores. It happened last year too and people were complaining about it on the Peloton facebook groups. It's unlikely your fitness ability has changed--something with the scoring changed. I've experienced it too. There's no way I can even reach my PRs from over a year ago and nothing has changed in my frequency and use of the bike. I just try not to think about it and just ride my bike (as Denis Morton says) |
You can reset your PBs or mask the old ones somehow in the software. |
This is helpful, thanks! I don't especially care about the numbers but good to know it's not that I've gotten so much weaker! |
This. I reset my PRs every year. |
It’s a cool feature. Garmin and training peaks and other endurance platforms do the same thing. Good stuff! 👍 |
Honestly I think PP is wrong. I think it is just you are not maximizing your peloton riding. I am in basically the exact same boat. But a year ago I was doing all kinds of power zone training and biking optimization and really putting my all into nothing but the bike. These days I am doing a lot more strength and cross training and yeah I cannot touch those numbers but it isn't because my overall fitness has declined, I am just no longer maximally optimized for peloton output. I have shoulder muscles and am working different parts of my legs with the other activities. I actually fully believe I could get back to those PRs if I put all my effort into it again. But have decided its probably better for my overall health to be more well rounded. |
Peloton is SO 2020 |
Because you're almost 50, dear. |
You might need to get your bike recalibrated. I'll ride with a resistance of like 40 and a cadence of like 80 and my output is like, 80. The charts say it should be about 110. I should recalibrate but I dont really care, other than my numbers looking so pathetic |
Nonsense. Bike fitness is one of the easiest to maintain as we get older. I ride with some women and men well past 50 that can climb and drop kids like they aren’t moving. |
Really? I bought my first one in 2018 and second one in 2021. Still ride them daily. Still love it! |
