| DD is going into HS in the fall. At her current MS they are not allowed to wear backpacks but can have narrow binder bag for folders. Is this the case for all MCPS HS? |
| Not ours. All kids carry massive backpacks with all their books b/c they don't do lockers. |
|
Obviously any individual policies will depend on the HS, but I don’t know of any MCPS high schools that have enough lockers for all four grades. There may be a school that does, but I’ve never heard of one.
|
| At WJ my kids carry their stuff all day, no locker. |
| I asked this question last year for my incoming freshman at Sherwood. My daughter was told that “ nobody uses lockers” basically they were not cool. So we have is an entire high school of kids lugging around giant backpacks up and down the hallways. There are plenty of lockers for rent. I don’t think they’re ever sold out. |
| Nobody uses lockers anywhere, they all wear backpacks in HS |
Yeah, but they hardly have any classes with books, so.... |
| I heard they carry their backpacks around because they don't have time to get to their locker between classes because the halls are too crowded. Maybe someone with HS aged kids can confirm. |
Yes this is what my junior says. They even walk to lunch off campus lugging those huge backpacks. |
| WJ. No one uses lockers. They lug giant backpacks filled with binders, Chromebook, water bottle, and lunch. |
+1 my DD's backpack is bigger than her, but they don't care books. It's the chromebook, lunch bag, binders, and god knows what else she's got in there. |
| ^carry books |
This is what my HS says. Whether it’s true is anyone’s guess. But said HS only went to their locker once all year, to see where it was in comparison to class. Guess it wasn’t close enough. |
And my kids' excuse for why they won't wear coats.
