Is in the morning and kids are asked to dress up. Do they typically leave afterwards? Some of DC’s friends are planning an activity for after but technically they still have school. Just wondering what the norm is.
Mine always stayed and there was something at school (cake, cupcakes, activity..)
The message from our prinicipal said the tradition is the kids leave so I imagine it varies by school.
Mine is staying even though nothing special is going on - would rather hang out with friends at school than with family, which works for me!
Trust me, if it was those two options DC would opt to stay as well. However, others are making plans to go somewhere and DC was invited so I didn’t know if there was some general understanding they could leave. Our principal has said nothing. |
At our school, kids typically leave and friends all spent the afternoon together.
Do they have school the rest of the week? All kinds of friends are posting "last day of school" pics.
Yes, early release on Friday. |
Depends on what level. HS is doing finals now so there are no classes. |
Our school has promotion ceremony at night.
If yours want to stay with their friends, make sure their friends are actually staying. At our school, must families take their kids out to lunch after the ceremony
Yup the school told us to take the kids home. I’m a teacher, so enjoy the sub on the last day of school!
Our school encourages us to take the kids home after the ceremony. Totally ridiculous as most parents are working.
ES teacher - 25 kids - all stayed except 1. Had a grade-level party at noon. No early releases after the party either. Pretty much the same in the other classes.
I didn’t realize each school was so different. My child’s school has a grade level party—gym is decorated by PTA to a theme and kids eat play dance to a DJ for a few hours after the promotion ceremony.
