Budding chef in this house got There's a Chef In My Soup by Emiril Lagasse (love this one) and Williams-Sonoma Fun Food for Christmas. Also check out Simply In Season Kids' Cookbook, which was one of a series commissioned by the Mennonite Central Committee, and is good for littler kids.
