| Does anyone have any info on Legends? I found an old thread from when they were first opening but I wonder if there are families or staff with thoughts on the first few years? |

RUN FAR, FAR AWAY! I assure you that’s exactly what many current parents are doing and so are the teachers AND even Legends’ Principal. The school lacks basic systems and routines, they actively keep parents out of the school and talk badly about them when a teacher does allows them to visit anyway, they lie to your face and in writing which makes for an awkward conversation when you need to call them out on their lies with the evidence, and pick-up is disastrous. The founders are full of drama AT THE SCHOOL BUILDING including one of the four founders who took off his shirt at dismissal and tried to fight a parent and the two divorced founders who are both now in romantic relationships with the parents of two students and those founders ended up in a full-on personal agreement in the school hallway during the school day. It’s all really a bad situation and sad for the students. Please heed my advice and save yourself and your child a lot of frustration and worry about their academic development and personal safety.
As an aside, it may sound as if I’m upset or even messy myself but everything I’ve stated is common knowledge amongst the Legends community. It’s outsiders that have no idea and come with high hopes only to be left feeling duped. My only anger is toward the lack of academic preparation the students are receiving. Their MCAP scores tell the tale. |
| I didn't even know of any of the above, but yes, run. Completely not worth it. |
| Sadly, all of the above is true. I wanted the school to succeed so badly, but we had to jump ship and many others are doing the same. |
| Disaster, stay away. |
| There was no lies told above. This school is horrible. I was a parent from the beginning I left a year and came back the only thing that got better was pickup they have a security team in the evening most of the time. But in the morning no one is outside to receive the kids. Principal Dixon is rude doesn’t return any emails or phone calls. They lie about your child’s progress. They are always begging for stuff ie board games or even supplies for MLk day and they got mad that no parent hardly donated. This school has went to hell in 3 years there are fights everyday my kinder child has been hurt so many times I can’t count he has been hit in the head and choked. They let anybody in here now. It’s sad you might have to teach your kids how to fight starting in kindergarten. Run unless you want to catch a charge |
| RUN, RUN, RUN RUN, RUN, RUN! DO NOT GO TO LEGENDS CHARTER SCHOOL! This school is horrible! All of the above is true! My child has attended since the school first opened, and while I tried to stick it out for things to get better, this will be my child's last year. In addition to the things stated above, you can also include bullying, drug usage on the middle school side which is around the corner from the elementary side of the school, poor communication with parents, and my child has not taken a financial literacy class (it's supposed to be a financial literacy school) since attending the school. |
| School is absolutely horrible. I worked there and can assure the ACTUAL classroom teachers hardly ever come to work. They have maybe 1 or two school subs who aren't reliable so it left with many other school personnel having to fill in and sub for days in a row. Principal Dixon has an ugly spirit and it shows. The light skinned lady Porsha also acts ugly and ghetto and wears slutty clothing to work. Would you want anyone working in a school especially with "director" attached to their title, wearing a crop top with their cleavage out? The lady devose is a bird brain and lacks basic train of thought. The CEOs don't want to be bothered with their actual staff and the children do what they want. They don't have their teachers hardly so what are they really learning? Run while you can. Nothing that was said above is a lie. Not to mention a few who also tamper with booger sugar hence the quick tempered attitudes and constant confusion. I wanted better for this school. Especially since it's predominantly a staff with POC. However, they aren't the greatest examples for children and I'll be glad when this school gets a complete makeover or shut down. |
| They contacted me to interview with them. When I saw they were all former DCPS employees, it was a hardy hexk nawl for me. |

Hello,
Hoping this forum still up. Anyone have an update on Legends? Any improvement? |
Hello as a student of legends I want to say the school is not as it seems on the outside it is very bad. For starters the students are bad as from experience they bully fight and cause a bunch of problems and they don’t have the skills of what they are taught as from experience they’ve cheated on test talked during them and also are the reason most of our teachers and staff leave. The staff members aren’t also good as they have cursed out students an example of experience is when a teacher made fun of my sibling calling them sped and acted racist towards them and aren’t good examples for middle school students they’ve also fought with parents. So overall please don’t put your student in that school |

Hello as a student of legends 8th grade about to graduate I present an update to the school and I just have to say it’s gone downhill.
1.) the schools main problem is the students speaking of experience and I’ve seen it all since the school first opened 2021 they are the main reason they lack teachers, they fight argue with staff and aren’t overall very bad mostly middle school students, and also have this year made a teacher cry because they hit her with objects 2.) another problem is staff as they’re known to curse and fight students as students have been hit and choked students, they’ve also fought and argued parents a lot. 3.) not known controversy’s: during these years at legends there have been many controversies surrounding the school one being the middle school students having s3x in the school as also a girl got r@ped by a older student last year and one of the most controversial issues was that last year students consumed weed gummies and got high and police had to be called this did get on dmv news and can be seen on DMV news twitter, another and last one is that staff members have said slurs as a former Latin teacher called a student the N word and staff had been known to call students Sped and nothing had been done about it. Overall as a student of the school I warn you to not put your child in the school so avoid it now!. |
| As a student at this school it's not a good school get pass mis Mahoney. She is so annoying and always has a stank ADITUDE like one time she told me I look like I'm from the hood because I had my sweater around my waste and I told my mom and ever since she always had a stank ADITUDE the only teachers that show respect is... (Ms.Washington, Ms. Smith, Ms. Keares, Mrs. Tommis) and I have been here for 6 years so I know the school like the back of my hand but there would be progress made because they are finally moving into another school building the rest of the teachers show no respect and hand out grades that you don't earn if you earned an A then you get an F if you earn a F you get an A as a going to be middle schooler you can't even wear any jewelry not one piece but Ms. Mahoney stands out to me because she will say something racist about you and your family if you even blink wrong at her but overall you should not put your child in this school. |
| I am new to the pgcps system. My kindergarten children go to this school. This will be their first and final year at this institution. In short, this place is ghetto. Unprofessional is an understatement to describe the staff. I was also not aware that my children have a teacher that isnt even certified to even teach and shes supposed to be a math/science teacher. Also, the aids look like they were hired from the street corners. No professional attire whatsoever. I even had one incident where one was hot boxing in a car and was dropped off smelling like a whole ganja farm and 8 am. My girl went from having a 87 in math and a 96 in science to currently having a 60 in both subjects. Mind you while at home doing her assignment there seems to not be a problem while she's doing the work and understands it completely. I asked her to be transferred to an actual teacher. In a week there has been a significant rise to her grade and confidence. I stupidly signed up for their Parent organization and paid for it. I regret it immensely. I signed up for the parent in the class volunteers and they have yet to assign any of it. But of course, fundraising is shoved down your throat every month. Do not enroll your child in this school. Support your public schools. This place should be audited and stripped of their financial aid through PG county. |
