I was reading up on falls church and saw that the entire district is IB. I know what that means for high school but what does that look like at elementary and middle school?

In the younger years it doesn’t mean that much. There are a few IB projects (in fifth grade, for example) and there is a lot of IB lingo suffused through the curriculum. The district spends a lot of time and money trying to balance conformity with the IB organization and adherence to VA requirements. Doesn’t seem worth it. The real difference comes in high school. |
It means they hire a bunch of extra staff with fancy offices and titles that really contribute nothing to student learning. |
In 9th- 10th grade they have to do a year long MYP personal project that’s not associated with a class and doesn’t affect their GPA. Some kids blow it off. It’s a huge source of stress for others. |
