Boss was out Friday. About to screw his whole world up when he realizes I’m out.
Wish him luck, he needs it more than me
|
| It might not matter as much to him as you think. |
|
Be ready to get shown the door ASAP. You should have your office already packed up, files & contact info already at home, etc.
He may get nasty, if you are a critical loss. |
| Friday, Monday, what’s the difference? |
| I think I gave notice on a Tuesday, as soon as I signed my offer letter. Don’t think it matters. |
Why would you do that? I always wait to give notice. |
What are you waiting for? |
Should've left a Post-it note on his desk a la Seinfeld style |
Without knowing the personalities involved, I would say this is unlikely, if OP is a critical loss. Instead, the boss will want to make sure that everything is transitioned over appropriately. |
| I gave notice on Monday morning, my last day was the following Friday. I needed a signed offer letter in hand before giving notice and I didn't get it until 8am Monday, |
Two Fridays later - I gave two weeks notice. |
| I did it on a Tuesday - as soon as I got my offer letter. I wanted to give no more than two weeks notice. |
Till first day at my new job at earliest. Offer can get pulled. |
Signed offer letter is a worthless piece of paper. My new job I started April 17. Pre April 17 offer can be pulled. Not on benefits new job till May 1. If offer pulled I am out of luck and I rather wait till May 1 for last day old job so I am on medical new job |
It sounds like you work for/are hired by shit companies. Literally every job I've had since my first one has been a job I've been recruited into by a former colleague, so the idea of a job offer being pulled out from under me with less than two weeks notice is highly unlikely when a company has put this much work into recruiting me, LOL. |
