I'm on Saxenda for WL, but would prefer to only inject myself once a week versus every day. I'm wondering what the differences are beyond that, or even if I'd qualify for Ozempic (not pre-diabetic, but BMI + risk factor means I am approved for Saxenda). Anyone been on both and can tell me differences in side effects? What is the transition like? Other issues? |

It's the same class of drugs but Ozempic is proven to be more effective for weight loss. Otherwise it's going to be a similar experience. |

You could literally google “Saxenda vs Ozempic” and get way more information than here. They’re different drugs, and Ozempic is more effective for weight loss. |
I can also ask here. I've read a lot of comparison posts, but not so much personal experiences of switching. |
Saxenda is liraglutide, a GLP-1 medication. Ozempic is also a GLP-1 and is semaglutide. Both work similarly however Ozempic is more effective per research studies and patient data.
Other than the daily injection, the primary difference is the efficacy - you can lose weight on both although it may be at a slower rate with Saxenda. The other point to consider is insurance coverage - many insurers are enforcing drug utilization rules and limiting access to Ozempic for those with a Type 2 diagnosis. It will be hard to get coverage if you aren’t diabetic. Saxenda is FDA approved for weight loss so access may be easier at this time. |
