| A message was sent yesterday that recess was cancelled for today…… |
| I think outdoor activities have been cancelled again, our school picnic was cancelled today too. In fairness, the forecast says we could still experience some waves of smoke that could push the AQI back up to orange at sone point today. |
| Our school cancelled outdoor recess. I think it’s too bad. The air quality is much better today and the kids can be outside. |
That's like saying the flood waters are down to two feet from six feet so the kids can play in the water. |
? Air quality is at yellow |
| DC's air quality is occasionally in the yellow (moderate) zone during normal times. Not something to worry about |
It’s yellow right now. Read the forecast discussion at AirNow.gov. No principal wants to be making a decision based on the air quality at the moment if recess. It’s just easier for MCPS to preemptively make the call for the day. It’s only one more day. |
Tuesday was orange and I think everyone had recess. Orange is the current alert and the overall prediction for today. |
| On a normal day if it was yellow or orange, there would be no modification, so I wish they'd call it back. My 9 year old is crawling the walls after all the indoor time! |

| It is ridiculous that they can't go outside today. This area is normally yellow on a good day. |
Yeah I had a little bit of trouble spinning this for my 6yo this morning, who was also disappointed about an evening activity getting preemptively cancelled. |
Horrible horrible analogy. |
| Analogy fail |
Agreed. It's no worse than a regular summer day in DC (arguably, it's sometimes worse here in the summer!). No good reason to cancel outdoor recess in MCPS today. |
