differences between langley high school and potomac school

We are new to this area. We understand that Langley High School is a public school and Potomac School is a private school. Both seem to be fine schools. Can anyone share their experiences regarding some of the differences between those two schools? Thanks so much.

What grade are you looking for? I assume high school? The acceptance rate at Potomac this year was very low - 9th is incredibly difficult to get in

If you are interested in UVA or VT- I think your chances of getting in those schools are better from Langley.

I can see spending $45k if Langley wasn’t an option. Potomac, along with Sidwell, Maret, and TJ are the few schools that can compete with Langley.

Langley is not in the same league as Sidwell and TJ. Langley cannot compete with these schools and a few others in the area.

Montgomery Blair, Richard Montgomery, Whitman, Churchill, Walter Johnson, Bethesda Chevy Chase, etc. College admissions are hard to compare however. But TJ, Montgomery Blair and Richard Montgomery probably have the best college stats due to their academic magnet programs.

And STA. Although the Cathedral Schools’ reputations are much better than Langley or any local public school. We don’t have a Stuyvesant or Bronx Science here. Maybe TJ is comparable.
