Hello,
We just moved here from Ohio and wondered if riding 9th graders waited until school started to register for clubs, sports etc. I don't see anything online about it so I am assuming we just wait but my son in anxious to see what the offerings are and what he might want to participate in. He'll be at Churchill. Back home, kids started working on that over the Summer. They could still register after the school year started but at least they could start to plan based on the offerings. I called to find-out about orientation and the counselor said it was "usually" a couple of weeks before the start of school but didn't have a date yet. Thanks for any info. |

I found Wootton's list. Churchill is probably similar.
https://sites.google.com/mcpsmd.net/woottonhseca/home Clubs aren't organized enough to recruit 8th graders. |
| The Thursday before school starts there is a half-day orientation where incoming 9th graders can ride the bus to their school, get their class schedule, learns about extracurriculars, clubs, etc. |
|
Sports registration will start in July-ish. Be sure he has a current physical. Follow Churchill's AD on Twitter or even MCPS Athletics on Twitter so you can be informed.
Kids usually sign up for clubs in the fall. During the beginning of school, there is usually a club fair. |
| Churchill has two orientations - one on Friday June 16 and one in August in the Thursday before school starts. The clubs page for this year is linked here https://sites.google.com/mcpsmd.net/churchill-clubs/clubs |
+1. Lots of schools do a club fair(s) during lunch/after school. You’ll get information about orientation over the summer. |

Fall sports for MCPS have try-outs/practices that can start as early as August 9, with registration beginning in July:
