APS New Grading Practice - Implication for IEP Progress

Anonymous
With the elimination of interim reports and shift to weekly summary of grades via email, will special education teachers be required to do IEP progress reports weekly? They are suppose to be sent at the same frequency gen ed students receive progress but I’m not sure if a weekly grade summary would be considered progress sent.

If it is required, with the added fear of parents now being able to sue school systems for cash, after almost two decades as a special education teacher I think I’ll be hanging up my hat.

obviously none of us know what is exactly expected. why don't you just wait for further instruction? (another APS teacher here)

I’m an APS teacher and parent and am assuming the weekly progress reports will be the automated ParentVUE messages that you can currently enable. It sends a weekly email with current grade and missing assignments. Many parents don’t know how to enable this and by making it standard for all middle and high school no one can claim they didn’t know their kid wasn’t doing well. And it doesn’t require extra work for teachers.
