| He chose to play in MLS over the 1.9 billion offer from the Saudis? |
|
I read that it was $400M annually. Not sure how many years. 1.9B sounds excessive.
But Messi doesn't need the money and likely doesn't want to live in KSA. And his family much less. He already has a house in Miami and like ever uber wealthy South American he will feel more at home relocating to S Florida. Miami is, after all, the capital of Latin America. It makes complete sense to me. Antonella is probably thrilled. |
| Apparently the Saudis kept raising their offer in order to entice him but he still chose Miami instead. |
| I can believe 2 billion. That’s chump change for the Saudis. |
|
He also doesn't want to tarnish his legacy by going to Saudi (money grab move to a human right abused country).
Same with Tiger Woods not signing up to Saudi-backed golf league LIV for a $700-800 millions. |
| Good for him. He can't need the money; no need to help them launder their image. |
| Awesome! He is not a sellout. Miami is better for his family. |
I would have signed with the Saudis.
|
| He's getting a sweet deal with Apple TV for MLS subscription money and from Adidas. It's a multilayer deal. He could potentially make more than what the Saudis offered. |
|
He's trying to piss off Pique by following Shakira.
LOL |
This. But agree that Miami probably makes more sense from a personal standpoint regardless. |
