Compacted Math 5/6 - Automatic after math 4/5?

Is compacted math 5/6 in 5th grade an automatic pathway after a kid has successfully completed compacted 4/5 in 4th? Are we supposed to hear anything from the teachers/school about 5th grade math placement?

If they had As and Bs in 4/5 yes it's essentially automatic.

It is automatic, but parent could opt kid back to just 5th grade if they felt that was better for child.

NP. This is encouraging. Wasn’t there a year where they dismissed a bunch of kids after 4/5? Glad to hear they seem to no longer be doing that.

Some schools send home letters to confirm.

It is not automatic. I teach math 5 and math 5/6. I have almost 15 kids that were in math 4/5 that will be joining my math 5 class next year. If you are questioning, please reach out to your school. If your child is not earning majority A’s and a handful of B’s, they should not continue in the advanced track in 5/6.

I think this is very much school specific. At our school, they kept everyone from 4/5 in 5/6 and added some kids who took math 4 but did very well in the spring MAP
