APS Gifted Service for Art

Anonymous
DD (in APS upper elementary) was identified as gifted in Art recently.
I think she is a great artist, so we are happy about it, but what does it really do? I don’t know how she can get “differentiation” in art class. Will she have more interesting opportunities when she moves to middle and high schools? I skimmed through the APS gifted service information, and it seems there are band, orchestra, and chorus for the gifted in music, but I could not find any info about the art program.
TIA.

It doesn't do much. The only thing with my child's middle school is it gives them priority for art class registration and they can choose that for the whole year instead of doing other electives. But I would guess that if a parent pushed, that could happen anyway.

This has nothing to do with gifted, and I know that not everybody can get into HBW. But their art program is very cool because you can take high school art in 8th grade if you take art all throughout 6th and 7th. So if your child gets into HB and for whatever reason you're on the fence, know that they have a good art program.
