| Any younger DCUMers with recent experience for inexpensive bars/restaurants in DC where college-aged interns hang out? A family friend is looking for recommendations for their kid and I am so far removed from that scene. Places with generous HH or weekday specials would be great; parents are on a budget and the kid is on an unpaid internship. |
| Not sure, but it'd be healthier and potentially cheaper to have them hang out with a kickball or pickleball team. Then the other players can direct them to the good happy hours! |
| Succotash, Rayku, Zatinya, Bar Charley, The Smith, El CHuco, COlada SHop.... you can't swing a cat without hitting a happy hour in DC and most have food specials |
These aren't intern bars. |
| Tune Inn on Capitol Hill is still there ... Tortilla Coast closed (that was a classic for interns) |
These are for an older crowd. |
| I would be appalled if I were in college and my mommy's friend was trying to find me a bar I could hang out at. 🤦🏻♀️ What has parenting become y'all? This is not normal. Or good. |
Yes, was about to post the same thing. I get it if mommy wants a rec for a real estate agent to help her kid find an apartment, but “cool intern bars” is too much. Let adult children find their own bars. |
| Is the Mad Hatter still around? That was the intern spot circa 1999. |
It’s a cover to cougar. Hunting grounds might be better at first job, not intern, and that means the Orange Line corridor. |
