Low spring iready scores

Just saw the iready spring scores. My kid who is usually in the 90+ percentile scored in the low 70s this time. Should I contact the teacher and see what's going on?

It’s undoubtedly nothing. The kids are burnt out with SOLs and the end of the year. Many, many kids blow off the Spring iReady.

I would send a quick email to the teacher and ask if they could give some perspective on this. Ask the teacher if there are any skills to visit over the summer, etc. Maybe they'll say they don't see any evidence outside of the test to be concerned - maybe they'll give you some specific feedback.

Are the scores in SIS or mailed home?

Oh ok. I just didn’t see the new ones in SIS yet.

What grade is your DC in?

DC is in 3rd and still only has Fall in there, no Spring yet.

No. Don’t contact the teacher.

I only see the raw score in SIS, where do you see the percentages?

I wouldn’t put much emphasis on that iReady test. Even the teachers talk about all of its faults especially in the young kids.

OP here, 2nd grade.

I’m convinced that Iready is a horrible assessment. My DS’s Iready scores almost never match up with his grades, classwork, other assessments, and his IQ testing. I think the interface is so bad that kids can just bomb it depending on the day.

My guess is that OP looked up the percentage and found an older scaled score sheet (from like 5 years ago), so her numbers are way off. They only have raw scores in SIS, you won't see percentages unless you ask the teacher.
