What’s the teaching style at TJ? Are lessons straightforward or do teachers let you get lost? |
My kid is currently a freshman. I was super impressed with the teaching notes. handouts etc. I think its super well organized - but at the same time rigor in he and tests is also a level up |
obviously it varies by teacher, but I have a graduating senior and by and large she has had amazing, wonderful teachers. ample opportunities to get any help she needed if she was getting lost. we are really, truly going to miss this school. |
Op here. Thanks. I was curious because we have experienced a non TJ teacher who gives basic examples and then expects students to do self learning for a crazy hard test.
I’ve hear that this is common in the TJ culture, and if true it sounds insane. |
Of all the teachers my DC had in TJ, every year they had 1 or 2 really good teachers (caring, helpful, inspiring),1 or 2 really bad ones that either hate teaching or enjoy grilling, and the rest are ok. They are one of the top 10% students in grades. |
Is there a way to avoid certain teachers? |
Bump. |
