Mason District Primary

Anonymous
So longtime Supervisor Penny Gross, D-Mason, has announcement her retirement this year leaving a wide-open Democrat Primary. So far, no Republicans have announced and with Mason District, like most of Fairfax County, being solidly blue whoever wins the Democrat Primary will be likely be the next Supervisor. Currently there are four candidates, Andres Jimenez, a planning commissioner, has the backing of a lot of the Fairfax Dem-Establishment which can be seen as a red flag for those who are dissatisfied with the current conditions of Mason District. Then you have Reid Voss, a realtor, who has come under-fire for previously working for Republican candidates but still has cross-over support from Independents and Moderates. Then you have Steve Lee, a Korean business owner from Annandale whose stance comes from supporting local small businesses. And finally, you have Jeremy Allen, an aide to Rep. Don Beyer D-V8, whose outlines includes affordable housing and constituent services. Just wondering what the general thoughts on a race that will not just have an impact on Mason District, but all of Fairfax County.

Seems like it will come down to Jimenez and Voss. Your assessment of their backgrounds is spot-on. Jimenez will probably win unless Voss gets a lot of Republicans to vote in the primary. Voss mostly seems to have support in the wealthier Lake Barcroft and Sleepy Hollow areas.

I like Jeremey a lot. He is a great person, but haven't actually seen much of him in the campaign at all. Jimenez has my vote. He knows local government well as a planning commissioner and has actually been out campaigning.
