SOL Vertical Scaled Score

Anonymous
Does anyone know how to interpret the vertical scaled scores on the SOL reports? My child is in 3rd grade so this is all new and I’ve received very little info. I thought the highest score possible was 600. Both my child’s reading score and math score was more than double that.

I thought the vertical scaled scores were for the growth assessments, not the actual tests?

Here's the ranges for the fall and winter growth assessments:

The vertical scaled score reported on the SOL is meant to compared to these vertical scores. The vertical scores appear to max at 2000.
VDoE refuses to release the cohorts or methods that were used to determine the ranges (FOIA anyone?)

The test scaled score (which maxes out at 600 as it does in SOLs traditionally) is separate.
