Cape May ferry

I will be driving home from Cape May to DC on a Thursday. Am I right that taking the ferry will be slower than just driving the whole way? Just wanted to make sure I’m not missing anything. TIA

It is about 2:20 without traffic from Lewes to DC, but it is a lot more pleasant to be on the ferry than to drive.
