Will I be the oldest mom of a middle schooler?

Me: 53yo and child: 11yo. What’s the average age of elementary and middle school parents at your school?

I know plenty of older mothers, OP. You probably won't be the oldest one there!

At 53 my youngest was in first grade. It. Doesn’t. Matter. And FWIW, my other kids were in fifth and 9th. I win. You’re not the oldest ever.

I’m your age with a 12 year old. It’s been completely comfortable.

Do moms go to school with the kids?

I’m 48 with a 12 year old. There are older parents, especially dads. I’ll be 51 when my youngest is in Ms. I don’t think too many moms are older. Most of my mom friends are 40-46.

I was older than you! Had my second at 43 and he had a late birthday so he was a year behind those in his birth year! Relax!

Not my experience. My eldest is starting middle school next year and I’ll be 38. I’m the youngest in her grade, younger than the next youngest mom by 5 years. I am looking forward to being “normal” among the moms in my youngest’s grade.

No. Lots of educated moms have kids later nowadays.

My sister will be 53 with a 12 yr old.

I am 50 with a 5th grader. I’ll turn 51 her first year in MS. This has literally never been an issue.
