School said they made offers, waitlist # hasn’t changed

Anonymous
We are single digits at a school that historically makes a handful of offers some years. In early May I called the school and they said they had made 4 offers for our grade already and may make more over the summer. But MySchoolDC still isn’t showing our number changing (except it dropped one spot, but I assume that was someone ahead of us since the school update should show 4 at once, right?).

Does anyone have any insight? Does the waitlist update automatically when someone ahead of you is removed from the waitlist through MSDC, but schools have to enter their information directly? Possibly the school registrar just hasn’t gotten around to processing the enrollments for the first 4 offers and at some point it will jump down all at once?

Keep in mind if someone enrolls, their siblings will jump to the top of the list. So 4 offers might have been made and 3 new people jumped ahead of your kid.

The number doesn't change until the offer is accepted.

The people who received the offers get a deadline to reply. The numbers won't change until one or more of those four decline to enroll.

Thanks, PPs. The school said they had 10 days to accept, which passed over a week ago. Could be that siblings jumped the line, but that one spot movement is the only change we’ve seen since May 1 and I would think siblings would move ahead at the time their sibling enrolled, not all at once. Could be wrong though.

My hope is that one person ahead of us accepted an offer elsewhere, and we’ll move down to #1 or 2 once the registrar updates the system on their end. Wishful thinking!
