Saw the obit. for George Maharis. "Route 66" -- one of the most incredible television series of all time. The Corvette! The cool jazz theme song! The open road! The girls! I was a teenager at the time and that show was for me. The obit. did not mention that Maharis was a dead ringer for Jack Kerouac, and Martin Milner, the blonde, looked a lot like Neal Cassidy, the hero of Kerouac's book "On the Road." Of course, in the book, Neil drove a Hudson Hornet, not a Corvette. But a Hudson Hornet would not have worked for television.
