Can someone recommend something for a solo woman traveler, preferably something less than three hour flight away, but not mandatory. Someplace with a nice beach, nice and not super extravagant resort, possibly with hiking options nearby. Budget - maybe $2k?
I’m generally careful and very aware of my surroundings. But traveling along makes me a little nervous. |

$2k/ night, per week….?
You stated budget but no time parameters. |
| Not a beach, but the Lodge at Woodloch in Pennsylvania. |
| Sooo something in the US....any big city will be safe, especially if you stay in a nice hotel. 2k for how many nights? This is a weird post. |
| I highly recommend Tulemar in Costa Rica. I would take one of the villas close to the reception and restaurant so you don't have to walk far. It felt incredibly safe. Costa rica in general is a very safe country. |

Ritz Carlton Dorado Beach or any resort like the Caribe Hilton or Wyndham Rio Mar in Puerto Rico. The island is very friendly to solo female travelers.
And it’s a little over three hour direct flight from DC on United, JetBlue, Southwest, Frontier, or Spirit airlines. But I wouldn’t recommend flying with the last three airlines I just mentioned. |

What about Canyon Ranch or Miraval as they have guided hikes and other outdoor activities?
If you just need to getaway for a few days, I love the Four Seasons Palm Beach for 2-3 nights. Great spa, oceanfront yoga, very relaxing and a quick nonstop flight. |
| Bermuda is a very clean and safe place for a solo woman to travel. You could cruise or fly there. |
|
If you can do without the hiking, Club Med Turks and Caicos would meet your needs.
Exumas is also perfect for solo travelers, one of the best solo trips I’ve ever done. A friend visited St Lucia as a solo woman and loved it. |

It's a longer flight but I spent 10 days in Iceland on a solo trip. I drove the ring road and saw damn near everything so it was more expensive but if you don't rent a car there are buses to take you on tours if that's your thing. The first time I visited years ago I stayed in one airbnb the whole time and it was relatively inexpensive (although over all Iceland is expensive) I highly recommend visiting there!

| I don’t understand women who box themselves in by buying into the myth that they become rape and murder targets every time they leave the house. Don’t live in fear! |
That fear is absolutely valid, unfortunately. |
Uh, absolutely valid in many countries and the authorities will be of no help. We need to work for change but I’m not putting my own life on the line like that. |
99% time safe but it's that 1% worry people. |
| There used to be a travel company in Europe called something like Solos and you could book a group trip with a bunch of strangers. Except they were often very strange. |
