Got an offer at a job that would raise my compensation about 50k. I’m interested in it but have no rail knowledge or experience aside from working with our commodity teams.

How did you get an offer if you don’t know about rail?

You need to specify which railroad and what type of job. Like are you repairing tracks or doing account payable or operating or working in a station or managing safety issues or what. There are differences in experience between agency and experience. I work for a railroad and collaborate with other railroads.

My brother has been working as an engineer (locomotive driver) for Union Pacific for 30+ years now. What do you want to know, exactly? He's always loved trains.
