Infertility Support and Discussion
| Unfortunately, I've suffered multiple misscarriages. I've just been referred to Dr. Mary Stephenson in Chicago for recurrent pregnancy loss. Has anyone been referred to her or seen her and if so, what was your experience? |
|
So sorry Op. Can't help you with your question, but curious, how many mc have you had, and why are you being referred to Chicago, no one can do anything? They don't know what's wrong with you?
If you don't have it already I recommend Coming to term: uncovering the truth about miscarriage. |
| OP here...had three to date. RE has done test after test and everything comes back normal. Thanks for the rec, I'll check it out. |
| I agree with the book recommendation. Mary Stephenson is discussed in there many times. I think she is the leading expert. If it makes you feel any better, I had four consecutive miscarriages and then two healthy children. I think, for most people, you can go on to have healthy children naturally. We did get a diagnosis, but it was nothing treatable, so we just had to keep trying. Best of luck. I know it is REALLY hard. |

I'm so sorry to hear your story, OP. I had four m/cs, and 3 different fertility centers could not find a reason. I'm currently 6 months along into my pregnancy and everything looks great. I've been seeing a perinatologist who prescribed Lovenox, a blood thinner, b/f conceiving this pregnancy, and she believes that the Lovenox is treating a slight blood clotting disorder.
Sorry I can't comment on Dr. Stephenson as I haven't heard of her, but I just wanted to offer another potential route for you. It's so, so hard. I'm wishing you well. |

OP did you have your consult already? How did it go? Did you fly for the day?
I am thinking of going to see her too. 16:03, who is your perinatologist? Thanks! |
| NP here, I'd like to know who 16:03's perinatologist is too. Thanks, and would also love to hear how the Dr. Stephenson consult went. I am also considering going to see her too. |
| op here...haven't had initial consult yet. Was trying to get more information first. When I do, I'll post my experience. |
