| First hand experiences with Wood MS would be appreciated. Have a rising 6th grader |
| Great music program! |
| My son had a great experience at Wood. Smallish school, mostly good teachers. Agree that the music program is great. |

Agree that the music program is great! Definitely encourage your kid to do Band/Orchestra.
There was this recent story, which stinks, but stuff like this seems to happen at every school in MCPS. https://www.wusa9.com/amp/article/news/local/maryland/earle-woods-middle-school-security-guard-arrested/65-c6310204-baee-476c-9429-c82e1acddc04 |
It's the same as any MCPS school. They teacher the same curriculum and everything. |
| Better than Clay, not as good as Stone. |
Even if you’re right which you’re not. The kids and the communities aren’t the same. That’s where all the difference is |
LOL - I got some news for you. They're all about the same. Seriously, the have teachers from the same employment pool and even use the same curriculum. The hair-splitting here is imaginary. |

Yes communities can have a different character, but the school system is standardized and provides the same opportunities to all. |
| 5 ESs feed into Wood MS. Barnsley, Rock Creek Valley, Flower Valley, Maryvale and Meadow Hall. I don't know about the latter 3 schools that much, but Barnsley and RCV shares the same neighborhood pool so many will know each other. I'd had a nice experience with the teachers and admins. Some excellent, some ok and some meh. As for HS, it will feed into Rockville HS, some will go to Richard Montgomery, Blair and Poolsville magnet (if they are lucky enough to get the spot) I've heard more FV kids will go to private HSs. And I also have many neighborhood kids who goes to Rockville HS, and they are doing really well. Again, it depends on the family. With bright hard working kids and involved parents, they will do as fine as other MCPS schools. |
