In spurts. I waste a lot of time and it takes me longer to do most things. I have a prescription for stimulants but I hate to take them. They do help though. Right now I could not do my job without them.

Do you work full time and have kid(s)?

Have you ever quit your job to recover from burnout or catch up on life stuff and if so, did it help?

Since childhood I felt there was something wrong with me. I am high IQ and 2e wasn’t on the radar when I was growing up but I had organizational, timing and nonconformity issues in school. As a young adult in therapy I kept describing how hard it was cognitively to get through every day. I wrote out for my therapist a typical detailed day in my life. She shared it with group colleagues, came back with the diagnosis and an apology for having missed it for 6 months. Then I got neuropsych tested.

I work FT and have kids. I have taken time away from each for the other. I’ve had to take patches of time off to catch up on life stuff and also have fallen badly behind on both. DH is unsympathetic, unsupportive, critical and insults me routinely so that’s unhelpful.

Methylphenidate 10mg 1-2x/day. I prefer the OG to the long acting ones. Causes headache at end of the day though.

Do you think your therapist is bad because she missed all those signs and didn’t suggest an eval on her own?

Also, do your kids have it?

OP, do you ever feel like you are having an
out of body experience in a normal day, where you just thinking is this really real?

Also, do you just feel like you don't belong, not with family, friends, children, parents? But you don't feel lonely?

No, I think she is good bc she was the first person to realize it and I would never have thought of it myself.

My kids don’t have it. They have other weaknesses but not this one.

No

Yes but mostly when younger. Now I’m just more removed & isolated.
